Randy N - Team Captain

“I was on a FIRST Lego League team in middle school. When I moved to Vancouver I found out there was a robotics team at Evergreen High School. I’ve always been interested in science and technology, so when I found out there was a robotics team, I joined right away.”
Randy is a senior, attending Evergreen High School and is the captain of the team. He loves hanging out with friends, playing D&D, surfing the web, learning new things, and going on adventures. When it comes to movies, he loves science fiction/fantasy, thrillers, and action adventures. Randy was one of the first members of the Evergreen Robotics team to be on the team for the full four years. He is currently teaching himself Japanese. He also marched in the inaugural parade for President Barack Obama. In college his goal is to study either computer science or computer engineering, with a specialty in artificial intelligence, at the University of British Columbia.
Gabbie – Marketing Lead

“I joined robotics, really just to find my place and to discover what there was in Science and Technology and then I found my true place in Public Relations and Marketing. I love it.”
Gabbie is a homeschooled senior, and the marketing lead. Her hobbies include volleyball, walking/jogging, playing Dungeons & Dragons, video games, youth group, spending time with close friends, and spending time with family. She loves watching drama romances, and eating Mexican food. She is pro-life, and has been to Washington DC three times, involved in pro-life marches. She has also visited Spain for World Youth Day. In fall 2012, she will be attending Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, Washington, to study business administration.
Randy T
Randy T is a senior and attends Evergreen High School. He plays a huge part in the mechanical team and is one of the main machinists of team. He got involved with the team because he wanted to do something for the public and be more involved with school. His main hobby includes any and all video games. Horror movies tend to be his first choice when he decides to watch movies. He is known as the ninja of the team and a super model (team joke). He loves to eat and his number one choice of food is Panda Express. When he graduates he wants to study Chemical Engineering at Oregon State University.
Zahra

Zahra is a senior at Evergreen High School. She loves being on the mechanical team and building the robot. When a friend pestered her to join the team, she decided to try it out, and she ended up loving it and sticking with it all four years of high school. Hobby-wise Zahra loves building robots, reading classical books, listing to indie rock music, and spending her time with friends. When she watches movies, she enjoys psychological horrors and thrillers. Zahra is one of the first four year members of the team, and she really, really likes the color purple. She loves adventure and likes to go camping with friends. She plans on studying Biomedical Engineering in college and hopes to attend Tulane University or Oregon State University.
Ryder – Electrical Lead
Ryder is a senior at Evergreen High School, and is the electrical team lead. He joined the team looking for an activity outside of school, and found his calling in working with the electrical aspects of the robot. He loves action movies, and is interested in aviation, military technology, electrical systems, sound systems, video games, and scuba diving. The Guam-born Ryder is proud to call himself a nerfer. While he has no preferred college, Ryder wants to study electrical engineering.
Trevor – Strategy Lead

Trevor is a Senior at Evergreen High School. He is the strategy team lead and works with the scouting crew. His younger brother, Dylan, got him interested in the team, and Trevor decided to to try it out. In his spare time he likes to playing basketball and football and listening to any kind of music besides country. When he watches movies, he likes to watch the comedy kind. Interesting enough he’s Hawaiian and also an uncle. When he gets the chance, he enjoys to surf. He plans on studying civil engineering and wants to attend the University of Hawaii Manoa.
Kaylee

Kaylee attends Union High School as a senior. She is one of the programmers and helps with marketing and scouting when she can. She joined the team because Zahra was in it, and she wanted a good reason to learn programming. She likes ice skating, windsurfing, reading in her spare time. She doesn’t watch movies often, but if and when she does, they have to have explosions in it, or she gets bored. Kaylee doesn’t like poetry, and when she was little, she wanted to join boy scouts. An interesting fact about Kaylee is that she read a college physics book in 8th grade just for fun. Her main study in college includes planetary science or civil engineering. Her dream college is Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dan
Dan is a senior and homeschooled. He is a member of the mechanical team and helps in any other group when he can. He joined the team because he really enjoyed building and engineering stuff. His main hobbies are reading and playing music. His movie preference is all about the action genre. He loves swing dancing when he gets the chance. He’s also been to Italy, and he loves to ski. He plans on pursuing a degree in either electrical engineering or computer science and hopes to attend Oregon State University.
Haylee

Haylee is a senior and goes to Evergreen High School. She is another one of the main machinists on the mechanical team. When her friends told her how much fun robotics was, she decided she wanted to try out, and to say the least she hasn’t left. Haylee loves to cook, mainly bake. She makes awesome peppermint brownies. When she gets the time, she likes to go hiking and read books. She loves comedy filled movies. Haylee is the type of person who can eat spicy food and not flinch. She likes classic rock and heavy metal music. She also enjoys studying history. Haylee has decided to major in mechanical engineering and minoring in either early american history or theology. She would love to attend Washington State University.
Kelsey
Kelsey attends Union High School and is a senior. She is also part of the mechanical team and is very interested in learning new skills. She wanted to “venture into the unknown”. She loves art, music, and reading, when she gets the chance. Her favorite genre of movies are the cheesy horror kind. Interesting facts about Kelsey are that she plays the piano, she is “innocent in looks but not in mind”, and she absolutely loves the Big Bang Theory. Kelsey wants to study mechanical engineering for elementary students at Portland State University.
Pico

Pico is a senior at Union High School. He plays a part in every part of the team: electrical, programming, mechanical, and media production. When he saw the robotics team at an open house at Union, he was very interested and joined the team. He is one of the first four year members of the team. He loves engineering and photography. He makes model airplanes and does a lot of video production in and out of the team. He can play the piano, and he likes spending his time building robots. His favorite movies are the short film kind. Did you know that Pico is a unit of measurement for 10-12? Within the team Pico is known as an item because we need him wherever we go. He’s traveled to Japan, Canada, and Thailand. Pico wants to study electrical engineering or computer science at the University of Pennsylvania.
Devan – Co-Captain
“I’m a freaking mechanic, man!”
Devan is a junior at Evergreen High School and is the co-captain of the team. He joined the team after becoming interested in it in middle school. He felt that he could not give up the learning experience, and the scholarship opportunities that came with it. He loves repairing things, bike/bmx riding, and he has been around cars and mechanics his entire life. He loves fixing up bikes. Devan loves watching action movies. He also has type 1 Diabetes. His goal for college is to go to either Clark Community College, or Washington State University.
Trever
Trever is a junior at Evergreen High School, and part of the programming team. He joined the team because of past experience in building, constructing, and programming. When he was a freshman, he heard of the team, and wanted to join, thinking that it would be a good experience. His hobbies include video games, tennis, track and field, and any sort of programming. Trever loves horror, comedy, and science fiction movies. He also won 3rd place in nationals with his choir sophomore year. He loves the color green, and goes fishing every year with his dad. Trever wants to study game programming or study to be an Orthodontist. The college he wants to attend is Art Institute of Seattle, DigiPen Institute of Technology, or Washington State University.
Stephanie

Stephanie is a junior at Mountain View High School. She is part of the marketing team. Because of the excitement of a challenge, Stephanie decided to join the team and because robotics seemed pretty cool. She enjoys making friendship bracelets, listening to music, bowling, and playing the cello. She has a variety of favorite movie genres; they include action, drama, and comedy. She is a big fan of Huskies (the dog) and loves the science field. Making others laugh through pure witty jokes is a great past (and present) time for her. She plans on studying biology at Columbia or University of Washington.
Jonathan

Jonathan is a junior at Union High School. He is on the electrical team. Because of his interest in robotics, he joined the team when he heard the news of having a team in the district. He plays video games in his free time and likes to bowl and tinkering with random items. He enjoys watching action/comedy movies. Jonathan is a quick learner and very good at math. He likes working with his hands and applying math to real skills. He wants to study math, physics, and/or computer science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Washington, or Washington State University.
Kai

Kai is a junior at Mountain View High School. He takes a huge part in the programming team. His love for technology and the internet helped him with his decision to join the Evergreen Robotics Team. He also wanted a way to apply his skills to real life situations. He likes to play video games, program, do graphic designs, and find/listen to different kinds of music. He likes to watch action and comedy filled movies. Even though he is Chinese, he doesn’t like Chinese food. He believes PC gaming is legit, and he participated in the Newton Division elimination matches last year (on a different FRC team from Idaho). He wants to study computer science at the University of Washington.
Karrisa
Karissa is a junior at Evergreen High School, and is part of the electrical team. When asked her reason for joining the team, she said, “I wanted something to do outside of classes, and I came here to learn programming, but I ended up in electrical, and I loved it.” She loves fantasy/science fiction movies and has played video games since she was 5. Karissa is very proud of the fact that she has been working on a book since 2nd grade, trying to perfect it. She also is a lover of pie. In the future, Karissa wants to attend Washington State University to study computer science.
Greg

Greg is a homeschooled junior. He joined the team through is sister, Gabbie, and because he wanted to gain hands on learning experience about mechanics. He loves playing the electric guitar and video games like Halo, Battlefield Bad Company. He likes watching comedy-filled movies, and his favorite comedian is Enrique Iglesias. He likes to snowboard when he gets the chance and has fondness of dying his hair a different color every few months for his faux hawk. His favorite animal is the pandas. Greg and his sister also like being goofy and singing old 80’s song at the top of their lungs. He wants to study mechanical engineering, and he is unsure which college he wants to attend.
Nick

Nick is a sophomore at Mountain View High school. He helps out with the electrical team, and he joined because of all the scholarships that were available for students. He likes science and playing video games in his free time. Nick enjoys watching science fiction movies. He watches TV online and was homeschooled for two years, and he wants to join the military. When he goes to college, he wants to study electrical engineering and to study at West Point.
Tyler – Mechanical Lead
“I’m not 12 years old!”
Tyler, a sophomore at Evergreen, is the mechanical lead. Tyler has always loved working with his hands, and when he saw the OverDrive competition at OMSI, he decided that he had to join. He loves playing video games, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and action movies. He loves to do volunteer work with his family. His goals for the future include studying aerospace engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology or California Institute of Technology.
Josh

Josh is a sophomore at Mountain View High School. He is one of the main machinists for the mechanical team. He joined the team because he absolutely loves robotics. He enjoys spending his time with friends, playing video games, and building random stuff. When he watches movies, he would prefer to watch action Sci-Fi. When Josh was younger, he wanted to be a paleontologist, and he has lived in the Northwest his whole life. He wants to study engineering in college specifically for robots, and he is undecided about what college he wants to attend.
Ryan M – Programming Lead

Ryan, the lead programmer, is a sophomore at Evergreen high School. His passion for video games is what drove him to join the team. He wanted to learn to use C++, which is used in a lot of video games. Ryan loves Fantasy/Science Fiction movies. He’s a truly impressive individual, taking AP Physics and AP Calculus as a freshman. Ryan has visited Japan and climbed Mt. Fiji and Mt. Saint Helens. His goal is to go to DigiPen Institute of Technology to study computer science.
Dylan – CAD Lead

Dylan is a sophomore at Evergreen High School and is the CAD (Computer Aided Design) lead. The main reason why Dylan joined the team was because he wanted to have better learning experiences. He spends his free time playing football and hanging out with his friends. He also loves playing video games such as Skyrim. Dylan enjoys watching comedy filled movies and wearing flip flops. He’s also Hawaiian and extremely loves giving and receiving hugs. He plans to study mechanical engineering and hopes to attend the University of Hawaii.
Ryan T

Ryan T (Little Bear) is a sophomore at Mountain View High School. He has joined the electrical team within the robotics team. He decided to try out the team when his friend, Josh wanted him to try it out. After attending a few meetings he and Josh decided to join the team because it was interesting and overall fun. He enjoys watching TV, riding the city bus, reading and playing video games. When he watches movies, he prefers the action filled kind. If you asked him to state three interesting facts about him, they would be making things out of duct tape, lives 7 miles from school, and wears awesome hats. He would like to study therapy or electrical engineering when he goes to college and would love to attend Washington State University.
Austin

Austin is sophomore and attends Union High School. He has decided to join the team because it’s exciting and is focused on what he likes to spend his time doing. Through the team he has been involved in the mechanical part of the team. His hobbies are electronics, computers, video games, photography, and most all, robotics. His movie preferences include comedy and documentary. He really enjoys electrical engineering and mechanical engineering and building random things in his spare time. When he goes to college he wants to study electrical engineering and hopes to attend Washington State University.
Olea
Olea is a freshman at Evergreen High School. She on the electrical team and is happy that she gets to gain knowledge in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and just science in general. Her hobbies are sleeping, participating in robotics, and playing on the computer. When she gets the chance to watch movies she loves the action filled kind. She’s Mormon and a huge chocolate lover. Olea has a big fear of needles and stays away from them when she can. Her preferred study in college is aerospace engineering and has high hopes to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ethan

Ethan is a freshman at Evergreen High School. He has chosen to be part of the mechanical team. He joined because he wanted to get a better mechanical experience. He likes to ride his scooter and go to the skatepark. Comedy movies are his favorite when he wants to watch movies. Ethan is originally from England, and he’s diabetic. In his free time he races go-karts. He wants to study mechanical engineering, and he wants to attend Motorcycles Mechanics Institute.
Peyton

Peyton is a freshman at Evergreen High School and joined the team for college scholarships. He is a part of the programming team. He enjoys playing DFO (Dungeon Fighter Online) and prefers to watch Action movies. He likes his sleep and to ride motorcycles. Peyton prefers not to eat chocolate. He wants to study computer science at Carnegie Mellon University.
Laura

Laura attends Evergreen High School as a freshman. She has chosen to be a part of the programming side of the team. She had previous experience in robotics and decided to take it to the next step. She enjoys reading, sleeping, and eating. In her free time she likes to make and program robots. When she watches movies, she likes to watch horror and suspense. She likes to read books from the library, and she is always hungry. She is unsure what she wants to study in college and is taking in all the opportunities she can from the team. Laura knows that she wants to attend Stanford or Berkeley though.
Kyle

Kyle is a freshman at Evergreen High School. He likes working with the CAD (Computer Aided Design) team. His interest in working with robotics is what made him want to join the team. His hobbies are building robots and working with Legos. He likes to watch comedy filled movies when he gets the chance. He built robots before he joined the team, and he has been learning CAD for the last three years. He has owned about nine cats, not all at the same time though. He wants to study engineering at the University of Washington.
